StrikeIron Delivers Premium Data Web Services via IBM QEDWiki

Web 2.0 technologies provide enterprises with the tools and data needed to create business-focused mashup applications

StrikeIron Inc., the leading provider of Data as a Service (DaaS), today announced that it has aligned with IBM to deliver premium web services via IBM’s enterprise mashup maker QEDWiki. To create enterprise ready mashups, customers need reliable, easy to use sources of data and this partnership allows business users to easily access over 100 StrikeIron business services through QEDWiki. Content available includes business intelligence services such as multiple D&B services, Address Verification, Email Verification, Currency Rates and many more.

IBM’s QEDWiki is a browser-based assembly canvas used to create just-in-time situational applications, or mashups. Its unique wiki foundation provides both Web users and developers with a single framework for hosting and developing a broad range of Web 2.0 applications. For more on QEDWiki, visit http://services.alphaworks.ibm.com/qedwiki/.

“As mashups come of age as business tools, enterprises need access to premium data and tools to help them create value-added applications,” said Rod Smith, IBM vice president, Emerging Internet Technology. “StrikeIron is well-positioned as an established provider of premium data to help business users embrace this growth. Together, StrikeIron and IBM are incubating the mashup ecosystem.”

StrikeIron will publish seven widgets that will be available for public use on IBM’s alphaWorks Web 2.0 content repository server and feed generator, Mashup Hub http://services.alphaworks.ibm.com/mashuphub/). These widgets will allow users to easily drag and drop the data directly into the QEDWiki mashup maker. Widgets currently offered include:

  • D&B Business Prospect - adds powerful data to corporate sales efforts.
  • Global SMS - delivers programmatic communication to contacts on their mobile phones via text messaging.
  • MapQuest Mapping - enables maps to be added to your Web site or application.
  • Reverse Phone Residential Intel - gives quality address information in conjunction with any residential phone number.
  • Reverse Phone Business Intel - gives quality address information in conjunction with any business phone number.
  • Sales and Use Tax Rates Complete - provides latest Tax Data for shopping cart applications.
  • US Address Verification - improves deliverability and saves companies shipping costs.

“StrikeIron and IBM are providing the last mile to business users with Web 2.0 and SOA technologies that quickly impact the bottom line. QEDWiki offers enterprises a fast and flexible way to put new tools in the hands of business users, and StrikeIron connects them with much needed invaluable data,” stated Bob Brauer, president and CEO of StrikeIron.

In addition to this current partnership, StrikeIron Web services are also available via the IBM SOA Business Catalog at http://catalog.lotus.com/wps/portal/soa.
